    House Prices (average sales prices)
This dataset comes from the Land Registry and is comprehensive; capturing all changes of ownership for all dwelling types and covers both cash sales and those involving a mortgage. The mean, or average, price is the total value of all transactions divided by the total number of transactions. Prices at the extremes of the range have been excluded from the calculation of the price distribution statistics because they distort the figures making them unrepresentative of price levels in the rest of the transactions.

Data is available at MSOA level and can be accessed through interactive maps, housing theme.

Business Enterprise Local Units by Broad Industry Group
Data on the borough's business units and the sectors that they belong to has been uploaded with data for 2010. The data shows that Wigan has an above average proportion of Production, Construction, Retail business units compared to the rest of the country, with lower than average Agricultural/Forestry/Fishing, Information & Communication and Professional/Scientific & Technical business units. This data can help gauge what kinds of sectors the borough's residents work in, although this indicator doesn't give an indication of how many people are employed in each of these units.

Data is available at Middle Super Output Area, Ward and Township spatial levels. It can be accessed from the homepage via interative maps and then the Economic Activity themes.
